Introduction to Thermogel(1)

Hits: 750 img

Thermogel, also known as thermosensitive gel, is an intelligent material that exhibits sensitivity to temperature changes. It demonstrates a sol-gel phase transition within a specific temperature range. At lower temperatures, thermogel remains in a liquid sol state, but upon heating, it transitions into a solid or semi-solid gel state. This unique property arises from the temperature-responsive molecular structure, making thermogel highly promising in various fields such as biomedicine, food industry, cosmetics, and smart materials.

Thermogels are typically composed of polymeric materials such as poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), poly(propylene oxide) (PPO), polylactic acid (PLA), or chitosan. These materials are extensively studied and developed due to their excellent biocompatibility and environmental responsiveness. The sol-gel transition temperature can be precisely controlled by adjusting polymer chain length, cross-linking density, or introducing copolymers.
